Yakuza Ishin Confirmed for PlayStation 4

During Sony’s pre-TGS press conference, it was revealed that SEGA’s Yakuza Ishin is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

Taking a page or two from Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan! (Yakuza Kenzan), Yakuza Ishin is set in EDO period Japan. SEGA had teased the game prior to the reveal, but at the time it wasn’t clear which system it was heading to.

It is also unclear if the game is connected to Yakuza Kenzan, which followed the adventures of the famous swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. But judging by the early screens, it is a high possibility the two games will share the same protagonist.

Yakuza Ishin will be a launch title for the PlayStation 4, which releases in Japan on Feb. 22, 2014. It will release for the PlayStation 3 on the same day. A western release date was not confirmed.

Most titles in the Yakuza series made it to the west. Yakuza Kenzan, however, was the lone exception. With that in mind, it can’t be certain if Yakuza Ishin will follow its numbered brethren across the pond, so stay tuned for further details.
