Microsoft Confirms Julie Larson-Green as New Xbox Chief

In a company memo, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer revealed that Julie Larson-Green will take over Don Mattrick’s spot as the new boss of the Xbox department.

Larson-Green, a 20-year veteran at Microsoft, is now the head of the Devices and Studios Engineering Group. Beyond the Xbox, she is also in charge of music, video and “other entertainment” for the company.

The complete message is as follows:

“Devices and Studios Engineering Group. Julie Larson-Green will lead this group and will have all hardware development and supply chain from the smallest to the largest devices we build. Julie will also take responsibility for our studios experiences including all games, music, video and other entertainment.”

Mattrick, who held the position last, left the company more than a week ago to become the new CEO of Zynga, Inc.
