New Sonic Fan Game Released on PC for Free, and, Yes, it Looks Great
It’s understandable that many gamers would turn their noses to the term “fan-made,” and they often shouldn’t be blamed. However, there comes a time every so often where a fan-made game turns out much better than expected.
That can be said for developer LakeFepard’s Sonic After the Sequel, a game inspired by SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog. For you old Sonic fans out there, this looks to be worth the download.
LakeFepard had already developed a fan-made Sonic game before, called Sonic Before the Sequel. The story in the game took place between Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive). After the Sequel fills the gap between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The developer pulled no punches with these games. Both include animation and pixel art derived from the older games, but also include plenty of new animation as well as custom soundtracks — which sound just perfect compared to the tunes featured in the classic games.
