IGN For Sale | Deal Closing Soon
If you hadn’t already heard, IGN has been up for sale for since October of last year. According to the Wall Street Journal, News Corp. is on the cusp of closing a deal to sell IGN to J2 Global.
Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, the sale is expected to go for $100 million which is significantly less than what News Corp. paid for IGN back in 2005 ($650 million).
Buyer, J2 Global, is the parent company of Ziff Davis. The sale will also include all of IGN’s network sites such as GameSpy and AskMen. Past bidders on the sale have included SAY Media, Break Media and a number of private equity firms.
Ziff Davis bought J2 Global in November for $167 million. The company also owns other popular Internet properties such as Geek.com, PCMag.com and ExtremeTech.
