Kenji Kaido Detaches From Team Ico

Kenji Kaido, producer of such infamous gaming greats as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, recently announced in a tweet that he was leaving Team Ico and Japan’s Sony Computer Entertainment chapter. To date, Kaido marks the third member to drop from the team, as both Fumito Ueda and¬†producer Yoshifusa Hayama have also detached from the project.

This news may be dismaying to fans of The Last Guardian (Team Ico’s current project) who are all eager to see more of the game and are looking forward to an actual bona-fide release date. There have been assurances that the game is still alive yet Team Ico’s stability seems to be iffy at best.

Despite Team Ico’s current rocky relations, The Last Guardian is beheld in critical acclaim and highly praised by gamers and journalists alike–perhaps that will be enough to persuade the development team to save Trico, but only time can tell.
