Quick, to the eShop! Wario Crashes Mole Mania, But Not Before He Fills Mario’s World with Colors

There’s something about the 8-bit Summer promotion in the Nintendo eShop that just doesn’t get old. Get it? Get. Old. Anyways, the shops cookin’ up yet another release of retro mixed with a bit of new school. No need to blow out old cartridges here, these titles are primed and ready for digital download.

What would an 8-bit summer be without a super plumber hoppin’ goombas and stompin’ koopas? For a limited time during this “Month of Mario” you can pick up the original game for US $3.99. This is a deal, inside of a promotion, inside of an eShop, inside of your Nintendo 3DS. Now, don’t fall asleep or you won’t be sure if its 1986 or that you really are playing Super Mario Bros. on your handheld in 2012.

The limited time Mario promotion runs from today until August 1, 2012.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

Even though Wario started out to be nothing more than Mario’s greedy nemesis, he’s probably one of my favorite characters in the Mario universe. His infamous “Wahhaahhhhh” yelp always makes me laugh. Although he can be seen mostly in his later years sporting the party game title, minus Wario Land Shake It, his younger years were spent doing what he loves to do, and that’s stealing.

After being booted from his previous castle by none other than Mario himself, Wario must now take a hike and look for something else to get into. He’s on the lookout for a rumored Princes Toadstool statue made of gold and will stop at no length to nab it. Use various powered hats such as the Bull Hat, Jet Hat and Dragon Hat and explore the locations of Kitchen Island. Who knows, you might find some treasure buried in there hills.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 releases today for a price of US $3.99.

Mole Mania

Ever thought that you’d be playing a video game hero by the name of Muddy Mole? Take on the evil farmer Jinbe in this Bomberman-esque style of game. Heck, you can even throw bombs at some of your enemies. In this top down style game originally released in 1996, the goal is to solve puzzles and defeat bosses so that one day you can be reunited with your wife and kids. That is, if that mean ‘ol farmer doesn’t keep meddlin’ with Muddy or the mother of his muddy kids. I know, I know, wow.

Mole Mania is available today for a price of US $2.99.
