E3: The First Details on Xbox SmartGlass

Keeping in line with making the Xbox 360 a multimedia console, Microsoft introduced Xbox SmartGlass.  Xbox SmartGlass is an application that allows Xbox 360 users to use your touch screen devices with the Xbox 360.  The highlight of Xbox SmartGlass was the integration with the newly announced Internet Explorer for the Xbox 360.  Users will be able to use Xbox SmartGlass as a touchpad.  Use it to move the cursor and zoom in and out with the familiar touch screen functions.  Other showcased functions included were on the fly play making for Madden titles and Halo: Waypoint integration with Halo 4.

It seems Microsoft was impressed with the Wii U controller introduced last year at E3 to try to compete with it.  It is an interesting idea to release an application that will be compatible with all the touch screen devices currently out of the market instead of making a new device. Let’s hope the Xbox SmartGlass Application will be available for free or less than $5.00 and will bring a new dimension to the Xbox 360.
