God of War Director Leaves Sony for Crystal Dynamics
Cory Barlog, famous for the God of War franchise, has officially joined up with Crystal Dynamics, a Square Enix studio now in charge of the latest Lara Croft adventure. Cory was a director on God of War before moving up as the Writer/Director for God of War 2, and also served as the creative director for Chains of Olympus and the story creator on Ghost of Sparta.
His talents will now be used on the upcoming re-imagined version of Tomb Raider and an upcoming title that has yet to be announced.
“Crystal has pulled together some of the best teams in the industry to deliver against upcoming projects and future IP,” says Darrell Gallagher, head of studio. “Cory’s heritage in building industry-defining action adventure titles, together with our focus on delivering quality character-driven blockbuster entertainment, makes Cory a tremendously exciting addition to the team.”
The Crystal Dynamics team is stronger with a developer like Cory on board. The God of War series is one of the most famous game franchises in history, and Kratos is a staple video game hero (or anti-hero) that is recognized worldwide.
This news also gives us the slight hope of a raunchy QTE-fueled sex romp featuring Lara Croft and a bosomy mistress. We may be this much closer to fulfilling that 16-year old dream, people.
