Resident Evil Revelations Realizes Retail Reduction
Due to its larger file size Resident Evil Revelations was set at an MSRP of USD 49.99. This is a little high as far as Nintendo 3DS titles go, most of which are USD 39.99. Today Capcom announced that we would also see a 39.99 price point for the latest addition to the Resident Evil universe.
Thanks to Brett Elston (Community Manager at Capcom Unity), he has assured the masses of the quality and pricing.
“Late last year we announced the console-sized adventure that is Resident Evil Revelations would arrive on a 4GB card instead of the standard 2GB card; this increase in memory size led to an increase in price as well, raising the retail cost to $49.99. And while we’re confident in the game’s value at that price (and the reviews reflect that sentiment as well), we’re also exceedingly pleased to say that after weeks of effort, we’ve been able to lower the price to $39.99.”-Brett Elston via Capcom Unity Blog
Honestly, I’m glad to see a big name developer and publisher show customer appreciation through generally accepted price points. In this day and age, parents can’t always appease the wants of their kids–especially when those wants are hitting 50 bucks a pop. Luckily, the Nintendo 3DS has dropped in price range and the games are sitting at a feasible amount.
Make sure to send some thanks on Twitter to @Brelston for the heads up!
