Campaign DLC Announced for Gears of War 3

Microsoft and Epic Games announced that the new campaign DLC, RAAM’s Shadow, for Gears of War 3 is scheduled to release December 13 for 1200 MSP. The DLC missions will star a new yet “eerily familiar” cast of characters.

The missions take place in a storyline that chronicles events before the original Gears of War, just after Emergence Day. Players step into the grub-stomping boots of Zeta Squad as they fight to evacuate citizens from Ilima City before they are taken by the Kryll. Their biggest threat of course comes from the Locust leader General RAAM, who will stop at nothing to clean Sera of humans forever. Zeta is led by Michael Barrick, from the Gears of War comic, and is comprised of familiar heroes such as Minh Young Kim from Gears of War, and Tai Kaliso from Gears of War 2.

“When we announced the ‘Gears 3’ Season Pass, we immediately started getting hundreds of questions from fans about what the game add-ons would be,” said Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski. “We’re really excited to be lifting the curtain on the first two releases, first with the ‘Horde Command Pack’ and now with ‘RAAM’s Shadow,’ which gives fans a new perspective on the ‘Gears’ universe and is also the biggest DLC release we’ve ever made.”

Players will also get the chance to play as RAAM himself as he storms the human stronghold.

“RAAM’s imposing size and strength, along with his Kryll shield, make him one of the most powerful and daunting foes in the ‘Gears’ universe,” said Bleszinski. “We think fans are going to have a blast unleashing hell upon the poor humans for the first time in a campaign setting.”

The missions are around three hours in length, and comes with a host of fancy new content such as six new multiplayer characters, the Chocolate weapon set and 250 Gamerscore.

The RAAM’s Shadow DLC pack falls under the Gears of War 3 Season Pass, which players can pick up for 2400 MS Points.
