Razer Purchases Ouya Store & Software
In a surprising tweet this morning by Ouya founder Julie Uhrman, it was made public that PC accessory manufacturer Razer has completed its purchase of the Ouya technical team and developer relations team:
.@Razer Can’t wait to see what you do. Take care of my incredible team and community…I know you will.

Razer’s tweet just under an hour later corroborated the purchase:
Welcome to the family, @playouya. pic.twitter.com/QBkUjd4C53 — Razer (@Razer) July 27, 2015
What This Means
Considering that Razer already has an Android set-top box in the Forge TV, that you can get with a discounted Serval (which is a much better controller than the Ouya controller), so it makes perfect sense that the only thing they’d want from Ouya was the Store portion. That gives them an almost ready-made storefront for the Forge TV.
Add in Cortex, Razer’s upcoming local game streaming application meant to work with the Forge TV, and you’ve got a pretty sweet looking device. PC streaming support, mobile Android gaming support, and Full Google Play™ support, with a custom Ouya Razer Storefront?
