Nintendo Ends Production on the Wii

According to an update found on the Nintendo Japanese Website the Wii is no longer in production in Japan.

This does not mean that North American and European markets are ceasing as well, however Japan was a huge market for the system and can soon see the end of a highly successful console.

Since 2006, the Nintendo Wii has moved 100.04 million units, which is millions more than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The successor to the Wii, the Wii U, has had a bit of a hard time gaining interest in the market, only moving 3.61 million units. However, the system has picked up some steam ever since the price drop was announced for the unit back in September.
