Sony Reveals Thinner, Lighter, More Affordable PS Vita

A new PlayStation Vita model was unveiled Monday by Sony during its pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference.

The new model will be thinner and lighter than the standard Vita on the market today — but that isn’t all. It will also be more affordable, and come in a variety of six different colors. It will include a 5-inch LCD display (instead of the standard OLED screen), and its battery life has been increased by about one hour, Sony said.

It will come with a gigabyte of built-in storage, and if that isn’t enough, Sony also revealed a new 64GB Vita memory card.

The slim PS Vita will be available in Japan starting on October 10 for 18,980 yen (about $190). Plans for a release in the west were not revealed.
