Xbox One Can Connect with Eight Controllers at Once

Up to eight controllers can be connected to the Xbox One and once, Microsoft revealed.

The information was scouted by Videogamer, which discovered the fact on the Xbox One website. The website also confirmed that the controllers will have a wireless range of 30 feet.

Though the console can connect eight controllers, four more than what the Xbox 360 could boast, it is uncertain how games will take advantage of this. It’s unlikely we will see eight-player splitscreen.

Let’s provide some thoughts: The feature can be used with party games that support many players, or it could exist for gamers who bring their own personal game pads (no more controller swapping!). The latter seems likely, as the Xbox One utilizes technology that allows the console to distinguish players and recognize if they are using a controller.

Xbox One is scheduled to launch this November for $499.
