Spawn and Heihachi Clash in Soul Calibur II HD, Missing: Link
Namco Bandai has confirmed that both Spawn and Tekken’s Heihachi will be available characters in Soul Calibur II HD Online.
When the original Soul Calibur II was released in 2003, each version of the game received a different exclusive character: Heihachi with PlayStation 2; Spawn on Xbox; and Link for the GameCube. It was an interesting strategy to say the least, with fans able to choose a version of the game based on what character they were most intrigued by.
Namco has not confirmed whether or not Hyrule’s hero will be featured in the game, however, but since Link is exclusive to Nintendo, and with no Wii U release of the game in sight, it’s fair to say he may not show up.
For those curious about the inclusion of Spawn in Soul Calibur II, it can be explained. Namco brought in Spawn’s creator, Todd McFarlane, to design the fighter Necrid. As a bonus, Spawn was able to cross dimensions and clash blades with the likes of Nightmare and Kilik in the Soul Calibur universe.
Soul Calibur II HD Online will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.
