Ubisoft Confirms Rainbow Six: Patriots Still in Development
Ubisoft has broken the silence surrounding Rainbow Six: Patriots, confirming it is still in development, and it will be “something worth waiting for.”
Speaking with IGN, executive director Alain Corre said the development team behind the title want to make sure that the game is not shown again until it is ready.
“It’s an important franchise for Ubisoft,” Corre said. “We want to make sure, on this one, like all the other games we’re working on, that we bring it when we feel it’s perfect.”
We got our first glimpse of Patriots in a debut trailer that featured the Rainbow team going head to head — albeit unsuccessfully — against a new terrorist threat. The theme was surprisingly dark as opposed to previous titles in the franchise, and the new direction definitely raised a few eyebrows.
When asked if the development team is still pursuing the same premise we saw in the trailer, Corre sidestepped the question, saying that he is unable to provide any further details about the new changes yet.
“What we want is to have a compelling story,” he said. “We want people who play the next Rainbow 6 to be astonished, to be very pleased with what they see. You’ve seen that the improvement in games over the last few years has been exponential. We have to reflect that improvement in quality. That’s what we’re doing on all our games.”
