Walmart Opens Pre-Orders for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 24th
Most PlayStation 4 and Xbox One pre-orders were snatched up faster than you can say “take my money.” Most day-one fans had their choice of retailers: BestBuy, GameStop and Amazon.com. With promises of getting into the launch day mayhem, big retailer Walmart is joining in the pre-order frenzy.
“We know millions of our customers can’t wait to get their hands on the Xbox One and PS4,” said Laura Phillips, senior vice president of Entertainment for Walmart U.S. “As the current market share leader in video game hardware and accessories, customers can trust Walmart to have the latest gaming consoles and new releases available at a great low price.”
Much like GameStop, customers can pay over time or all up front on launch day. Seems easy enough, eh? So what is a person to do if they want an Xbox One or PlayStation 4? Simply head to your local Walmart and perform these magical steps:
- Provide a 10 percent down payment – $40 for PS4™ and $50 for Xbox One.
- Make payments over time or in full when the console becomes available.
- Pick up the console on the launch date. Walmart will hold pre-ordered consoles for customers wanting more time to pay it off until December 13, 2013.
The retailer is limiting pre-orders. Those looking to purchase may only pre-order two of each. Meaning, only a console and game, accessory or two consoles. Much like other consoles on launch date, you can expect some of those two hit the eBay marketplace for huge markups.
The news of the retailer accepting pre-orders falls in line with the most recent confirmation of the PlayStation 4 launch date of November 15, 2013. The PlayStation 4 will launch for $399.99. Those who are looking to pick up the Xbox One will be treated to the Day One Edition of the console. The pricing will set you back $499.99.
