Rumor: GTA V Will Get a PC Release
Grand Theft Auto V will get a PC release “this fall,” Nvidia said in a conference call held on August 8.
During the conference, Nvidia’s Chris Evenden, senior director of investor relations, hinted that gamers will see GTA V on the PC not long after its September release date. He also mentioned a couple other games that may see a release along a similar timetable.
“The PC market is evolving,” Evenden said. “As entry level laptops face pressure from tablets. Yet sales of specialty PCs like gaming systems and work stations continue to grow. The disparity reflects how consumers use these different classes of PCs. Many consumers look for PC as a general purpose device they can use for browsing, email, social media video.
“But much of this can be better served by a tablet. In contrast, gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin’s Creed IV.”
It has been pointed out that Evenden may have been mistaken, only assuming that the game would see a PC release. Rockstar’s most current stance is that the game will be console only.
But this may uplift the spirits of many PC gamers hoping to swipe cars and get chased by explosions later this year. So far, the online petition for GTA V on PC is at more than 300,000 signatures.
