Microsoft Discussing Halo 2 Anniversary Edition

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has revealed that the company is discussing the possibility of a Halo 2 anniversary release in 2014.

In an interview with IGN, Spencer, VP of Microsoft Game Studios, said an anniversary game for Halo 2 is on the table.

“We have discussions about it,” Spencer said. “It’s more about the right time and making sure that we really would do the right thing for the franchise.”

Halo 2 was released for the Xbox back in 2004, making it necessary for an anniversary release to hit shelves next year.

But Spencer did express some doubt regarding the possibility of the edition getting the green light.

He said the goal behind the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary in 2011 was “as much about the launch of the first Xbox as well. It was a culmination of many things coming together,” and that continuing the anniversary model for every 10-year-old game would soon “run out of steam.”
