Plants vs. Zombies 2 delayed to “later in the summer”

PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time will miss its original July 18 release date, according to the developer.

Plants vs Zombies 2 - 1According to a tweet by PopCap, “Plants vs. Zombies 2, originally slated for a July 18th release, will now be released later in the summer.”

It looks like the need for more development time is directly causing the delay. PopCap followed up the delay announcement: “We’re sorry for the delay, but want to make sure the game lives up to fans’ expectations.”

PVZ2: It’s About Time will be a free-to-play game, and new features such as touch screen-based power-ups to attack zombies, new plant units and zombie foes, and food items that can be used to supercharge your plants. PopCap also announced that the game will be treated as a “live service”, with new content released on an ongoing basis.
