PS3 Firmware 4.45 Fix Rolling Out Next Week

Sony has revealed that a fix for firmware 4.45, which caused some PS3s to fail, will be available on June 25.

Speaking to Videogamer, Sony said it “identified the issue,” and apologized for any inconvenience.

The 4.45 firmware update cause some versions of PlayStation 3 consoles to stop working at start-up — a malady often described as “bricking.”

Reports indicated that the most affected PS3 units were the 500gig consoles. Not many users were hit by the glitch, but it was enough for Sony to pull the update for reevaluation.
