EA Reveals New Mirror’s Edge Game in Development for Next-Gen Consoles and PC
It seems that EA and DICE are conducting the “second chance” train, and they don’t plan on missing many stops. Besides resurrecting Star Wars Battlefront, the duo have also revealed that a new Mirror’s Edge title is also in the works.
The original Mirror’s Edge launched in 2008 for current generation machines. While it was praised for its stunning visual style and aerial acrobatics, it was criticized for a wonky control scheme.
“We introduced Mirror’s Edge and Faith to gamers five years ago, and we’ve waited for the right moment to reunite them,” said Sara Jansson, senior producer, DICE. “Thanks to the Frostbite engine and a new generation of platforms, we are now able to deliver a richer world that players will be able to explore with a new level of freedom in both movement and action.”
EA announced the new game during its E3 press conference with a trailer featuring actual in-game graphics.
The original game removed the HUD, challenging gamers to leap and fight using visual cues, and the featured trailer seems to carry the same idea.
It was revealed that the game is in early development, and no release date has been confirmed. The new and (hopefully) improved Mirror’s Edge will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
