Harmonix Reveals Fantasia: Music Evolved

The famed developers of Guitar Hero and Rock Band have revealed its next interactive music game, Fantasia: Music Evolved. Teaming up with Disney, this game is inspired by the 1940 animated film, Fantasia.

(Fun Fact: This would make the game a 73 years late movie game tie in.)

Players will use the Xbox Kinect to motion control to manipulate pop music tracks an decide the flow of a song. You could change the song mid-way, perform a mash-up, or continue adding layers of music onto a single track. The game will also support local muntiplayer with a competitive or co-op mode.

So far, more than 25 artists have graced their music to the game including Bruno Mars, AVICII, and even Queen. Each track will include the original recording and two remixed tracks.

Tracks announced so far:

  • AVICII – “Levels”
  • Bruno Mars – “Locked Out Of Heaven”
  • Fun. – “Some Nights”
  • Kimbra – “Settle Down”
  • Queen – “Bohemian Rhapsody”

An official release date has not yet been announced, however, Harmonix is targeting a 2014 release. Fantasia: Music Evolved is being developed for Kinect use only on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
