No Self-Publishing For Indie Devs On Xbox One

According to a report by Shacknews, Independent developers will no be able to publish their games on the Xbox One. If a developer wants to publish a game for Microsoft’s next-gen console, they will need to obtain a publishing deal from Microsoft Game Studio or a third-party publisher like Activision or EA.  As of now, this new policy will not effect games published on Indie Xbox Live Arcade.

“We intend to continue to court developers in the ways that we have,” said General manager of Redmond Game Studios and Platforms, Matt Booty to Shacknews.

Sony has previously stated that developers can publish their own titles via the PlayStation Network for the PS4. Nintendo has also allowed indie developer publication on the Nintendo Network.
