Rift Going Free To Play This June

Trion World’s fantasy MMO, Rift, which was released back in March of 2011 will be switching to a Free-To-Play format starting June 12.

“We have been listening to feedback from our players and watching the continuously developing MMO community, and are now ready to launch Rift as a premium free-to-play experience,” Rift Creative Director Bill Fisher said in a statement. “After taking our time and planning a careful transition; we are very excited to bring an enhanced game experience to everyone, without barriers.”

Following the switch to Free-To-Play, Rift will see a content update 2.3, called Empyreal Assault. The update will open up new zones, events, in-game store offers, as well as expanded mounts and boosts.
