Subscription Based Games Hit Steam

Valve has announced that subscription-based games will now be available through its online game client/store, Steam.

The first game available is Darkfall Unholy Wars, which is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG).

A subscription to play the game will cost $14.95 a month. Starting today, Steam users can manage their subscription accounts right from the Steam client. However, Valve is not allowing “gift” subscriptions at this time.

More games are expected to follow though nothing has officially been announced thus far. If you need more information about the subscription plan can be found on the Steam FAQ page.
