Ratchet & Clank Coming to Theaters, Heavenly Sword to DVD

If you’ve ever enjoyed the lighthearted fun and comedic hijinks of Ratchet & Clank, you might be just a little overjoyed to know that the series is on the way to theaters.

Sony has teamed up with Blockade Entertainment, which is also working on a Heavenly Sword movie due to release straight to DVD, the second announced CG film based on a Sony IP.

Have a glance at the announcement trailer:

I may be alone in this, but when Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction hit the PlayStation 3, I was surprised Sony didn’t take advantage of the series and make a Ratchet & Clank movie then.

At the time, Tools of Destruction looked movie quality, so it’s good to see that it’s finally being pushed to a larger audience. It seems that the movie will carry on with the comedy the series is known for, which bodes well for the project. Ratchet & Clank releases to theaters in 2015.

Heavenly Sword, with main character Nariko voiced by Anna Torv of Fringe fame, is in its own league of awesome as well. The voice acting was amazing, so here’s hoping Blockade can live up to the standard set forth in the game when the film releases to DVD.

Can you think of any other games that might be served well with a movie?
