Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Details Revealed
Ubisoft has officially pulled back the curtain on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Blood Dragon is not a DLC pack for the existing Far Cry 3; it is a standalone game. In fact, within the confines of the ’80s feel of its reveal trailer, it would appear that Blood Dragon shares little relationship to Far Cry 3 at all. Jason Brody, Vaas Montenegro and the island that we explored last fall are no where to be found, save for Vaas’ unusual appearance in the screenshot above.
Blood Dragon seems to be almost poking fun at everything that Ubisoft has done with franchise, dialing it back to a retro ’80s-style action game. It’s as if the developers took “Terminator,” “Star Wars,” “Die hard” and “Rambo” and lumped all of what we loved about those franchises and used the result as influence for Blood Dragon. From the colors to the music and voice acting, it doesn’t seem to take itself to seriously, thus presenting itself as an entertaining experience and possibly a worthwhile arcade game.
The mechanics of the game are very much Far Cry, and yes there are dinosaurs to be had in this game, however the open-world gameplay will not have the same force as before. But it has been revealed that the game does open up. The structure looked very much stream lined and narrow.
Blood Dragon will be available for Download on May 1 for 1200 MS Points ($14.99).
