Cheetah Speed Returns to SimCity, Mac Version Releasing in June
It seems that after the immensely rocky launch of SimCity, things are returning to normal for the game. Cheetah Speed, which is a staple of the series, was removed along with Achievements and Leaderboards in an attempt to free up bandwidth shortly after a launch that left many without a way to connect to the game’s official servers. With the addition of new servers and fewer issues impeding gamers from building the cities of their dreams, Cheetah Speed has returned to the game. The Official SimCity twitter account noted that, as well as the fact that the 2.0 patch is still being worked on:
Yes, it’s true — we’ve recently brought back Cheetah Speed. We’re also working on Update 2.0, so stay tuned for more info. #SimCity

On top of that goodness, it’s been announced that the Mac version of SimCity will be launching on June 11th, 2013. As an additional bonus for gamers, it’s noted that if you’ve already purchased the PC version of the game, you’ll already have access to the game in OSX.
Considering the digital nature of the game, it makes perfect sense that they allow you access to the game regardless of which platform you’re on. Especially when competing digital platforms — *cough* Steam *cough* — are already working hard to give you access to more of your games on differing operating systems with your purchase.
Are you looking forward to the Mac version?
