Ubisoft has provided a first look at some of the gameplay behind the swashbuckling, high-seas sequel to Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Some naysayers to Black Flag have spoken few favors toward of the series possible departure of typical wall-climbing hijinks in favor of adventuring and fighting via ships on the seas. However, this latest trailer reveals that the parkour platforming and hidden blades that popularized the franchise still have some stake.
The game, which stars Edward Kenway, grandfather to Connor of Assassin’s Creed III fame, appears to have a darker edge to it. The video features plenty of street assassinations and bleak atmosphere.
We also witness a jungle environment just itching for some exploration.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is scheduled to ship Oct. 29 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U and Windows PC.
