inXile Announces Second Game to be Crowd Funded-Torment: Tides of Numenera
Coming off the heat of Wasteland 2, developer inXile is looking to strike digital pay dirt once again.
The online backing website ‘Kickstarter’ has become somewhat of a phenomenon in itself. The site has allowed many artistic ventures to flourish. Most of all, game developers no longer have to tussle with publishers in order for their next venture to get approval to get off the ground. Instead, companies can simply go directly to the customer and provide them with the necessary means for launch. Enter: Torment: Tides of Numenera.
This is the second kickstarter campaign from the company and they are looking to solidify it as the business model of choice.
The game itself is the follow up to Planescape: Torment, a formerly acclaimed role playing game developed some time ago. The gameplay introduces moral decisions that deliver reactive outcomes. Presumably, the choices made in the game will host a sort of ripple which can be felt in future interactions within the game. Explore the Ninth World, discover the numanera and its power. Choices of life, death and use of the new found power will shape decisions made throughout the game. We’re only human, right?
The Kickstarter campaign for Torment: Tides of Numenera is set to launch March 6.
