Razer Announces March ‘Edge’ Pre-Orders
Razer announced today that its high-end gaming tablet will be available for pre-order starting Mar. 1. Release dates are still blurry, but the company promises to ship “later that month.”
If you are unfamiliar with the gaming tablet, tear off that Snuggie and get out from under that rock you’ve been living under for the past year. The tablet will be available in North America at three retailers: BestBuy, Amazon and of course, the Razer online store. However, these locations are the ‘online’ store, so be prepared to watch your mailbox like a hawk. Click here to check out pre-order information.
The Razer Edge combines the features of full-functioning PCs, touch-enabled tablets and gaming consoles into one incredible, portable form factor,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, CEO and creative director, in a press release. “Furthermore, the Razer Edge’s powerful chipset, unique among all tablet computers, ensures that you can take advantage of the world’s most sophisticated games, programs and apps on these multiple platforms anytime.”
During the Consumer Electronic Showcase (CES), GAMINGtruth spent some time with the newly redesigned tablet. After some hands-on time the previous year, it was impressive to see it pull off games like Dishonored without so much as a dip in the action. The most current form of the tablet came from the designs of Project Fiona, with the implementation of user feedback. Most recently, the tablet could be seen running Crysis 3, one of the most demanding games of our current gen.
The price of the tablet starts at $999. So, if you are in the market for a new gaming rig, and happen to need a high end tablet, you are in luck. Here are some of the guts you can expect from the gaming tablet:
- Intel i5 and i7 processor models
- Option of 128GB or 257GB SSD
- Ships this March
- Accessories available for pre-order and except keyboard which will be available Q3 of 2013.
