XCOM Shooter Should Release in 2014

The 2K game known as “the other XCOM” is still in development out of 2K Marin following a slew of delays. The game was believed to be stuck in limbo as developers have not commented on the games status until now. During an investor call with Take-Two Interactive, Joystiq revealed that 2k Marin “continues to make progress” with the game.

Last year, Firaxis released XCOM: Enemy Unknown which was a reboot of the classic strategy game. This “other” XCOM is a first-person shooter RPG hybrid.

The game is set for a fiscal 2014 release. To give you somewhat of a time frame, Take-Two’s fiscal year runs from April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. This means we could possibly see the game later this year.

GAMINGtruth will keep you posted on any news regarding XCOM as news develops. We can expect more information on the game during the upcoming Game Developers Conference and Penny Arcade Expo next month.
