Crysis 3’s Multiplayer Beta Coming Jan. 29 for Xbox 360, PS3 & PC
In a recent press release, EA and Crytek revealed that Crysis 3‘s multiplayer beta is coming quite soon to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Gamers will have two weeks to play starting on Jan. 29 to Feb. 12, and the beta will include two team-based modes spanning two maps, and will offer gamers the perfect opportunity to practice before the game launches.
Not only will gamers provide EA and Crytek with valuable feedback and stats, but the beta will also provide a nice sampling of the game’s signature fast-paced blend of stealth and FPS action.
Crytek’s CEO Cevat Yerli had this to say about the upcoming beta:
“With Crysis 3 we are delivering the deepest, most robust Crysis multiplayer experience yet,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek.
“We have listened closely to our fans and have evolved the multiplayer in Crysis 3 by adding a host of new gameplay features including the unique Hunter mode, deadly new weapons like the Predator bow, deeper loadout and unlock options, enhanced upgrade systems and more social features like the New York Feed.
Top it all off with the ultimate weapon in the Nanosuit and you have a multiplayer experience that is unlike anything else out there.”
The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta is planned to featuring two of the eight multiplayer modes included in the game: Crash Site and Hunter Mode, each of which have their own distinct objectives and fast-paced action.
In the Crash Site mode, gamers must defend specific locations against oncoming enemies, scoring points along the way for kills and the duration of each secured location.
Crysis 3‘s exclusive Hunter Mode will also make its debut within the beta, bringing a brand new experience to the franchise. Hunter Mode is an asymmetrical, time-based gametype that pits two players against ten (2 vs. 10 on Xbox 360 & PS3, 2 vs. 14 on PC) in matches that bring a true sense of predators and prey.
Hunter Mode begins with two cloaked hunters who stalk the other ten players (who are in the guise of CELL troopers) in a game of survivalist deathmatch action.
The cloaked hunters are armed only with enhanced Nanosuits and the deadly Predator bow, and they must hunt and kill the other players in a specific order, who must in turn work together to thwart the invisible predators. The game mode brings an exciting twist to Crysis 3’s multiplayer, allowing gamers to have a true sense of the Nanosuit technology as well as the brand new Predator bow.
The twist to Hunter Mode is that when a CELL trooper is killed, they in turn respawn as a hunter, which as much like Halo‘s popular “Infection” gametype.
Along with the Crash Site and Hunter modes, the beta will also showcase two of the game’s twelve visually impressive multiplayer maps: Airport and Museum. Each map provides players a taste of the lush, urban rainforest and tactical sandbox that awaits them under the Liberty Dome of New York City.
Finally, the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will utilize the New York Feed, a brand new in-game social feed that allows gamers to show off their in-game accomplishments and achievements throughout their multiplayer career. The feed also offers distinct and dynamic in-game challenges.
Crysis 3‘s multiplayer beta will run from Jan. 29 – Feb. 12 offering gamers two weeks to practice for the game’s release on Feb. 19 (North America) and Feb. 21 (Europe) for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. For more information please visit the game’s official website.
