The Walking Dead Sells 8.5 Million Episodes
Telltale’s episodic Walking Dead game has sold more than 8.5 Million Episodes, which predominately are digital, and has generated more than $40 million in revenue.
The series started in April of last year, releasing it’s first episode on Xbox Live and the Playstation network, and later to IOS, which has generated 25% of the games sales. The list of promotions this fall that coincided with the game helped the series gain some steam as Steam, Xbox Live and PSN all offered the game at a 50% discount and even made the first episode free to download for a short period of time.
The Walking Dead game took home the Game of the Year honors at this past years VGA’s and even garnered my vote as being one of Telltale’s most successful game to date.
The Walking Dead Season 2 is currently in the works. “We also have The Walking Dead signed up for another season, so we’re gonna use a lot of the revenue we’re generating to continue to grow the company,” said Telltale boss Dan Connors. I for one can not wait and look forward to future work from the Telltale team.
