Rayman Legends Launch Day and Demo Announcement
Recently, Ubisoft announced that its artsy sequel, Rayman Legends, would see the light of day come February 26, 2013. If that wasn’t news enough, with the support of the Nintendo eShop, the game will see a demo release on Dec. 13.
One of the most exciting things about this Rayman title may not even be the fact it’s exclusive to the Wii U.
Earlier this year the news of the game buzzed around a “leaked” Wii U trailer. The trailer showed off some brief gameplay, title of the game, and something that sparked interest for future Wii U owners. The Nintendo Wii U GamePad has a portion of it dedicated for Near Field Communication (NFC).
This technology essentially allows the GamePad to interact with physical components and bring them into the digital world. The trailer showed off some characters/items from Rayman titles being placed on the NFC area and then transported into the game. Jaws dropped when a small Ezio character came into view.
The video has since been removed from most places but can still be located. It was later said that the trailer was simply for prototype purposes, which did let some of the air out of our sails. Either way, the technology is now a thing due to the Wii U being widely available. Many still hope that this technology and feature will be in the final product come launch day.
