Star Citizen Breaks Crowd-Funding Records, Raises Over $5 Million

Star Citizen, a hugely anticipated sci-fi space trading and combat simulator, has broken all previous records to become the highest earning crowd-funded project in history. The upcoming PC game has earned over $5 million in revenue, more than double its goal of $2 million and is still climbing with every passing hour.

PC gaming legend Chris Roberts–who has received considerable fame in the gaming world for his past works that include Wing Commander, Privateer and Freelancer–is working with Cloud Imperium Games Corporation to develop Star Citizen for PC.

The game is planned for a 2014 release and features many of the traditional elements found in Roberts’ classic titles including Wing Commander which pioneered the genre. Check the official trailer below to see the game in action!
