Splinter Cell: Blacklist Commentated Walkthrough – Lotsa Shooting, Explosions — Not Much on Stealth
I’ve been a fan of the Splinter Cell franchise ever since the gravel-voiced Sam Fisher burst onto the screen in late 2002. Actually, let me correct that. I was a fan until the last game, Splinter Cell: Conviction, took everything I loved about the series and encouraged me that those things sucked. Because shooting people is how a real agent should do it.
With every game prior to Conviction I challenge myself to go through the entire story without being seen or taking a single life unnecessarily. Was it difficult? Yes. Because I wanted it to be–that’s what made the series so enduring and so fun to me. A lot of that changed with Conviction.
Yes, you can still be stealthy in Conviction, however, the game put me into situations that were nearly impossible without having to kill one or a whole group of enemies. I understand that the series is evolving with the times, which idolizes shoot-happy special agents like Jack Bauer, a character which Fisher shared many similarities with in Conviction.
The video below is around 10 minutes long and in it we watch our now smooth-voiced Sam Fisher kill a huge number of terrorists, their dog, and then caps his killing spree by launching missiles from a flying UAV, Call of Duty style.
So, yeah — was a fan.
