PSN Hack by Anonymous a Hoax
Internet hacker group Anonymous has claimed to have breached Sony’s PlayStation Network again. The hackers say they have taken over 50 gigabytes of email addresses and passwords for over 10 million PSN users. The list was posted over at PasteBin for all to see.
However, Sony has gone on the defensive, saying that any latest hacking is a hoax.
“We’ve confirmed that the recent claim that PlayStation Network was illegally hacked and that customer passwords and email addresses were accessed is completely false,” a Sony spokesperson said.
While trying not to upset Anonymous (please don’t hurt us!), I don’t understand why Anonymous is going after the everyday consumer. I can get why they are mad at Sony for removing Linux support and closing their once opened platform, but attacking users who may be down with your message (such as myself) may hurt them in the long run.
