Star Wars: The Old Republic Going Free To Play This November
BioWare, makers of Star Wars: The Old Republic, announced plans to incorporate a free-to-play model into their popular MMO this November. This is on top of the free to play up to level 15 they started in July.
Players who choice the free to pay model will be able to play up to level 50 with some restrictions on new content and player features. There is also a subscription play option that will go on sale this August for $14.99 USD. In this payment model players would get unlimited access to all content new or otherwise.
“Players want flexibility and choice. The subscription-only model presented a major barrier for a lot of people who wanted to become part of The Old Republic universe,” Matthew Bromberg, GM of BioWare Austin, said.
Current and former players will also get free “cartel coins” and exclusive bonuses when The Old Republic goes free to play.
