Michael Fassbender To Star and Co-Produce Assassin’s Creed Movie
Variety has revealed that Michael Fassbender, whose recent films include “Prometheus” and “X-Men: First Class,” has joined forces with Ubisoft to star and co-produce the “Assassin’s Creed” movie using the actor’s DMC Film label.
Variety reports that Ubisoft will develop the film independently, as to keep a level of control over the project. However, distribution rights may go to Sony, which tried to secure developing rights last fall.
This is good news for fans of Assassin’s Creed, as Fassbender’s strong involvement adds credibility to the film. He’s also a damn good actor, and his presence could attract other top-level talent to the project’s cast. Yet it is still very early on in the movie’s production, so we won’t see Fassbender donning the white robes of the assassin’s for some time.
