Phantasy Star Online 2 Heading Out West in 2013

Since its announcement, it has been speculated whether SEGA was going to keep Phantasy Star Online 2 at Japan or move overseas. Earlier today, however, GameSpot reported that yes, the sequel to SEGA’s popular online RPG has been confirmed to launch in North America and Europe some time next year.
This is good news for PSO fans of all types, whether you played the game on Xbox, GameCube, PC or its 2001 debut form on the Dreamcast. PSO 2 does not follow the style of Phantasy Star Universe, which received a poor reception when it launched on multiple platforms in 2006, opting a look and feel more akin to the original, real-time fighting engine, mags and all.
The game launched in Japan last week on the PC and will also see releases for the Vita, Android and iOS devices. The game will ship free-to-play, so there should be no reason not to give it a try when it launches in 2013.
