Final Fantasy VII Confirmed for PC
I never thought that in 2012 I would be writing an announcement for Final Fantasy VII coming to PC as a digital download. The landscape of gaming has widely changed, right down to the ways in which we purchase and play them. One thing is for certain, games like Final Fantasy VII will always have a firm hold regardless of the terrain.
Cloud, the main character in FF VII, has also got to be one of the most recognizable characters in gaming. Guide him to take on the Shinra Company and defeat Sephiroth, the antagonist of the title. For a game that released on the PlayStation 1 in 1997 and PC the following year, the tale of corporate power, rebellion and evil can be applied to many worldly workings today. After Cloud joins the rebel group AVALANCHE, the game introduces us to the bigger scheme of things.
The PC release of the game is not just a revisit to the series. There will also be various features such as achievements and an in-game editor to tinker with your character skills. With the social aspect heavy into our current state of gaming affairs, options to share these experiences will also be embedded.
The announcement is also in part to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series. There is no set release date other than Coming Soon and later this year boasted on the press release. To be honest, I don’t think we are too far off from being on Cloud nine.
