San Diego Sets Its Eyes on Gamers at Comic-Con 2012
It’s almost that time of year again. The streets of San Diego, CA will be filled with people in costume seeking out goodies everywhere they go. No, I’m not talking about Halloween. It’s a nerd’s ultimate four day getaway known as Comic-Con.
Comic-Con is heavily known for introductions and announcements of upcoming movies, television shows, and, well…comics. However, over the past couple of years the expo’s video game section has grown and become yet another opportunity for video game developers to show off upcoming titles straight out of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) showroom floor.
I still remember the small corner reserved for video game developers a few years back. I still cherish my Little Big Planet swag bag, Gears of War 2 concept art poster, and my three inch Chun-Li character figurine from Street Fighter IV that I grabbed in my last attendance.
Since then, Comic-Con has embraced developers with open arms and invited them into Hall H to show off games that only some had the opportunity to play at E3. Each year more and more video game titles are showcased, featured, and/or playable to attendees. With the release of this year’s schedule earlier this week, there is clear indication that the emphasis on all things nerdy has grown in size once again.
If you were looking for a breakdown of the conventions video game info–look no further. Check out this year’s video game related panels below:
