Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut Edition Hits This Tuesday
I won’t go too deeply into detail on the gnashing outcry of fans over the ending to Mass Effect 3. If you were there, you should definitely remember the intense backlash that BioWare received from both fans and media.
In an attempt to help alleviate some of the problems people had with the ending, BioWare will release a free update which should help clarify some things. The Extended Cut won’t replace the ending, it will only add additional scenes which the company hopes will give fans some closure. According to the Mass Effect section of the BioWare blog, the cut “gives a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings.”
Will the Extended Cut achieve some manner of success and make up for the terrible ending? Who knows? All I know is that I plan on grabbing some popcorn and leaning back in my chair and watch what happens when the upgrade is released on June 26 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
