The 3DS to Get a “Beefy” Hardware Upgrade
In keeping with their tradition of making their handheld consoles bigger, Nintendo has announced the Nintendo 3DS XL. The 3DS XL will feature a screen that is 90 percent bigger than the current 3DS and a new battery that promises to outperform the original, gamers have a lot to be excited about.
[Ed-Though they should have been excited when we practically announced it earlier this month.]
Available on Aug. 19, 2012, which just so happens to be the same day as the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2, the Nintendo 3DS XL will come with a 4GB SD card and a $199 price tag.
The announcement of a bigger 3DS could not have come at such a perfect time. With the system continuing to build its library and Nintendo’s announcement of upcoming franchises like Paper Mario, Epic Mickey, and Kingdom Hearts all coming to the 3DS the question becomes, who wouldn’t want to play any of these games on a bigger 3D screen?
Too bad there’s still only one stupid analog stick. What the hell?
