Disney Combines Film And Pixels with Wreck-It Ralph
Video games transitioning to a motion picture, or vice versa, typically end up a horrible idea. In most cases the movie is terrible and the game is decent, or a blockbuster film has a thrown-together game, or both the movie and game are complete wastes of time. It has happened too many times. gaming companies and movie studios are reluctant to cross into each others territories due to this growing stigma.
But once in a great while, the gaming and movie industries come together to form a great movie and game that compliments the film, not simply retell the same story. In those situations both the movie and game become greatly underrated. Remember “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” and its charming 16-bit counterpart on XBLA and PSN marketplace?
With this in mind, Disney has announced that the company is attempting to make a beautiful marriage between film and video games with the announcement of Wreck-it Ralph.
Announced at E3, “Wreck-It Ralph” follows a video game villain’s desire to become a hero of his own game. Taking ideas straight out of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, the trailer showcases a number of beloved video characters from different companies including Bowser, Zangief and Clyde from Pac-Man. “Wreck-It Ralph” opens in theaters on Nov. 2, 2012.
