Ubisoft Responds to Rayman Wii U Leak, Calls it a ‘Sequel’
Nintendo Wii U news has been few and far between. Besides the Rayman Legends leaked trailer that we brought to you a few days ago, we haven’t seen much. So, we decided to ask Ubisoft about the trailer and find out if this Near Field Communication (NFC) tech is something that we can expect to see in a Rayman title.
This was their response:
“An internal video showing images of a Rayman Origins’ sequel has leaked over the Internet. This video was intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in no way represents the final game, the final console or their features. This video was destined for internal production teams who often create game prototypes with work in progress development kits. Ubisoft confirms the development of Rayman Legends handled by Michel Ancel and his team in Montpellier.”
Now, we can all rest easy knowing that another Rayman Origins title is in the works. One thing I found interesting, after not catching it on the first read through, was that it mentions the content seen as a “sequel.” We are not only looking at Wii U title, but our very own sequel to hug, squeeze, and hold forever and ever.
The technology also seems like more than just a brow lifter. Even if we take the popularity of the Skylanders’ series, if that was any indication as to how popular the tech could be, Nintendo might be on its way to striking gold once again.
I would say that we are only scratching the surface on news/rumor leaks for the upcoming console. Sure we’ve heard speculation as to what’s under the hood, a few games that may make appearances–but that’s about where the well runs dry. E3 is just around the corner and we are surely past due for a flash flood of info to hit.
