Prey 2 Not Cancelled, But It Won’t Come Out This Year
Bethesda has officially announced today in a press release that Prey 2 is still alive, however it will miss its initial 2012 release date.
The delay, Bethesda said, is because the company believed that “game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards.” A representative wrote that Bethesda still believes in Prey 2‘s potential, and apologizes for disappointing fans.
“We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule,” a Bethesda representative said in the release.
I hope that the game finally does see the light of day. When I first saw Prey 2 during E3 last year I was really intrigued by the gameplay and the theme of bounty hunting in space that developer Human Head was going for. This delay may end up being a blessing, and we could see a much better product as the result.
