Looks like our earlier hunch was right on the money. At 2 p.m. PST today capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 6 is indeed on its way. The announcement came with a trailer and a release date set for Nov. 20, 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version of the game will launch at a later date.
From the trailer, we can see that the game will place players in the role of several characters including Leon S. Kennedy who appears a little older or, at least, a little scruffier than what we remember from his last exploits in Resident Evil 4. The game continues the over-the-shoulder camera style which began in RE4 and it appears the game’s controls will be similar as well.
One important element of the trailer is the return to zombies as the primary enemy. There are shuffling zombies as well as those that can run and leap at the player. Other details include what appears to be darker and more dramatic storytelling, and from first look we cannot confirm whether the game will include any co-op elements.
